• Marcela holds a degree in veterinary medicine and has completed master's and doctoral studies in farm animal welfare. She was a university professor for four years and for over 13 years has conducted various research projects, workshops, and conferences related to the welfare of animals used in production, mainly in the housing, slaughter, and transportation of pigs, poultry, dairy and beef cattle.
• She is currently an international animal welfare consultant and auditor. For the past three years, she has worked for Humane World for Animals as a scientist, providing technical advice to producers, introducing producers to companies, and conducting scientific reviews and proposals for international animal welfare legislation and policies.
